- Twelve days before the opening ceremony, the Olympic flame arrived in the capital on Sunday July 14.
- Thierry Henry will be the first torchbearer on the Champs-Élysées, at 1 pm. The torch would later pass into the hands of many other famous and anonymous bearers.
- The ceremony site is in Town Hall Square and will be open from 5 pm to midnight, with the lighting of the cauldron scheduled for 11:15 pm.
- For those who are not in Paris this Sunday, do not fear: the Olympic flame will be there again this Monday, before returning to the capital on July 26.
