A delegation from the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema participates in a conference on “Islamic-Christian Dialogue” in Port-Louis

The Moroccan delegation, currently visiting the Republic of Mauritius, is composed of Messrs. Othman Sqalli Houssaini, Mission Officer at the Foundation, Mohammed Maghraoui, Expert at the Foundation and Ilyas Mahyaoui, reciter.

Initiated by the Cardinal Jean Margeot Institute, this conference was attended by eminent experts, academics and religious scholars, Muslims and Christians, as well as the president and members of the Mauritian section of the Foundation.

During this conference, Mr. Sqalli Houssaini highlighted the initiatives of the Kingdom of Morocco for the consolidation of inter-religious dialogue and the promotion of peace in the service of development and social cohesion in the African continent.

He also highlighted the leading role of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema in the implementation of this vision at the level of its sections in 48 African countries.

For his part, Mr. Maghraoui addressed the aspects of tolerance, through the teachings of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, peace and blessings be upon him, in the hadith.

Speaking on the same occasion, Reverend David While, Vice-President of the Mauritius Council of Religions, highlighted the values ​​of Christianity in favour of peace.

As for Mr. Khalil Elahee, professor at the University of Mauritius, he addressed the subject of the values ​​of brotherhood in Islam in the multicultural context.

Finally, a presentation on “the encounter with the divine in the other” was given by Sister Clotilde De Maroussen of the Catholic Church.

It is worth noting that the conference was inaugurated by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Moroccan reciter Ilyas Mahyaoui.

As a reminder, the Foundation’s delegation was received on Monday at the Presidential Palace in Port-Louis by the Vice-President of the Republic of Mauritius, Eddy Boissézon.

She was also received by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, Anwar Husnoo at the headquarters of the Prime Minister’s Office in Port Louis.
