The implementation of the Royal Initiative favors an innovative and integrated approach with the aim of strengthening the stability and security of the entire region, specifies “Madar21”, adding that it constitutes an innovative platform to achieve the economic take-off of the Kingdom via its Atlantic coast, while taking into consideration the neighborhood which includes not only Mauritania and Senegal, but also the Sahel countries which took part in the ministerial coordination meeting, held last Saturday in Marrakech (Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and Chad).

The electronic newspaper notes, citing “informed sources”, that Morocco’s objectives, with regard to the Sahel countries, have already been, to a large extent, achieved with its southern neighbors, particularly Mauritania, with which fruitful economic relations have developed, notably through trade between the ports of Agadir and Dakhla and that of Nouadhibou.

“Mauritania and Senegal did not attend the Marrakech meeting because of their different geographical positions from the Sahel countries that do not have access to the Atlantic,” explained informed sources of “Madar21”, specifying that “these two countries are strongly involved in the Royal strategy that will integrate them into the new dynamic that the region will experience.”

Mauritania and Senegal maintain privileged relations with Morocco and will have a significant presence within the framework of the Royal Initiative to strengthen the access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic, underlines the same source.

The international initiative of HM King Mohammed VI aimed at promoting access for Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean has the potential to unleash the great capacities of coastal partners, thus accelerating growth and sustainable and inclusive development of regional economies, believes the president of the Moroccan Center for Strategic Studies and International Relations, Mohsen Ndoui, quoted by the electronic newspaper.

This Strategic Initiative will therefore contribute to the “take-off of a new, strong and bold Africa, capable of defending its own interests and exercising influence on the international scene,” he adds.

Like the Mediterranean coast, the Atlantic coast of the Kingdom represents the gateway to Africa, as well as a window open to America via investment in various Atlantic-African projects, in particular the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline, considered as a project of regional integration, joint economic take-off and the promotion of development dynamics along the Atlantic strip, specifies Mr. Ndoui.
