More than 5,000 cleaning workers of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) have been working continuously to clear the waterlogging caused by heavy rain since morning.
By noon on Friday (July 12), major roads were drained of water. For this purpose, 10 quick response teams are working in 10 other regions. Each team has 10 employees.
5 teams of DNCC are working simultaneously in Kalyanpur since morning to quickly resolve the waterlogging caused by heavy rains.
According to the information of the Meteorological Department, 60 millimeters of rain fell in the capital in three hours from morning. This is the heaviest rainfall in the country this morning as far as data is available. It took some time to remove the water due to continuous heavy rains for a short period of time.
Quick response teams are being sent to the areas where waterlogging is still being seen, cleaning the drains and ensuring the flow of water. Quick response teams along with DNCC cleaners are working to remove water from branch roads in each region.
Dhaka North City Corporation also said that quick response team will take action if there is any water accumulation by calling DNCC hotline 16106. DNCC Mayor. Under the instructions of Atiqul Islam, related departments including engineering department, waste department are working since dawn. They also said that measures are being taken by constantly monitoring the waterlogging situation.
It is to be noted that due to the rain that started this morning, various areas of Mirpur including Kakrail, Mohammadpur, Shaorapara, Kazipara and Mirpur Mazar Road, Elephant Road, Matsya Bhavan, Central Road, Dhanmondi No. 27, Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Tejgaon, Vijay Sarani, Paschim Tejturi Bazar, Tejkuni Para, Mollapara of South Manipur, Mohakhali have accumulated water on various roads.
Besides, water has risen on Shantinagar, Malibagh, Mouchak, Kakrail, New Paltan, Purana Paltan, Arambagh, Shahjahanpur, Fakirerpool, Vijaynagar roads. Dayaganj Junction, Syedabad Bus Terminal, Nimtoli, Toynbee Circular Road near Kamalapur, Jatrabari, Kajla, Shanir Akhara, Rayerbagh, Golapbagh and other areas are submerged in water.
Meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir of the Meteorological Department told the media that it will rain more or less throughout the day. However, the trend of rainfall will reduce tomorrow from Saturday.
