Group (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon and Minnie shared stories about how they almost debuted under the names ‘Green Crocodile’ and ‘Pink Mouse’, respectively.
(G)I-dle’s (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, Shuhua) Miyeon and Minnie appeared on the web entertainment show ‘Old Boy’, which was released on the 13th, and had a conversation.
In the released video, Miyeon explained the process of debuting as (G)I-DLE, saying, “A friend told me that Cube was looking for a Korean member to sing, so I auditioned and debuted.” Minnie also said, “I went to a singing academy, and then Cube employees came to me and held an audition at a Thai academy.”
Miyeon and Minnie then revealed an anecdote about how they almost debuted with a group name other than (G)I-DLE. Minnie said, “There were other group name candidates, and among them was the name ‘Anicolor.’” Miyeon then said, “There were also the stage names of the members. We chose our favorite colors and added animal names in front of them.”
Miyeon said, “I like the color green, so it was ‘Green Crocodile,’” and Minnie said, “I like the color pink, and I named myself ‘Pink Mouse’ because Minnie’s name came from Minnie Mouse,” making everyone laugh by revealing the reasons behind their stage names. Soon after, Soyeon, Shuhua, and Yuqi revealed that their stage names were ‘Yellow Fish,’ ‘White Butterfly,’ and ‘Blue Sky,’ respectively.
Meanwhile, (G)I-dle is promoting their new 7th mini album ‘I SWAY’, which was released on the 8th, with the title track ‘Klaxon’.
