Organized by Consensus Public Relations (CPR) and SafetyWing, in collaboration with the city of Essaouira and the Foundation for Research, Development and Innovation in Science and Engineering (FRDISI), under the theme “Digital Nomads Connect Morocco: Shaping the future of work and travel”, this two-day summit aims to explore in depth the possibilities offered by the city of Trade Winds for digital nomads, while presenting the infrastructure, innovative professional opportunities and the unique living environment of the city.
In an opening speech, the Advisor to HM the King and Founding President of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, Mr. André Azoulay, welcomed the choice of Essaouira to host this global summit which brings together an audience of government officials, foreign investors and key players in the digital economy, emphasizing the city’s deep and authentic adherence to nomadic values.
Highlighting Essaouira’s exceptional status as a global hub for cultural exchange and human connection, Mr. Azoulay reiterated the city of trade winds’ strong commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening its digital ecosystem and providing a welcoming environment for digital nomads from all corners of the globe.
The governor of the province of Essaouira, Adil El Maliki, echoed the same sentiment, highlighting the city’s rich heritage dating back to the dawn of humanity, insisting in this regard on the importance of promoting good infrastructure to accommodate modern nomads.
“Thanks to the many development projects undertaken in the city, such as the Technopark, Essaouira is about to emerge as a destination of choice for digital nomads seeking professional opportunities, a serene lifestyle and an environment conducive to creativity and innovation,” said Mr. El Maliki.
For her part, Sarah Lamrani, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, shared with the audience an overview of the ministry’s various strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s digital ecosystem and promoting a framework conducive to digital entrepreneurship.
“Thanks to the national digital transition strategy “Maroc Digital 2030″ and collaborative efforts with the Technopark network, Morocco aims to position itself as a leader in digital innovation,” noted Ms. Lamrani in a statement to the press, also welcoming the Kingdom’s exceptional assets in attracting digital nomads, including its cultural, environmental and geographical diversity.
It is in this perspective that the general director of Technopark Maroc, Lamiae Benmakhlouf, highlighted the pivotal role of this structure in supporting Moroccan and foreign startups and digital nomads.
“By offering a full range of services and a favorable environment, Technopark Essaouira aims to attract a thriving community of digital nomads attracted in particular by the affordable cost of living and the quality of life offered by the city of Alizés,” she continued in a similar statement.
The audience then attended several panel discussions, during which a host of international experts shared their perspectives on emerging trends in digital nomadism, while examining the challenges and opportunities that arise in this growing field.
The audience was also treated to informative presentations highlighting case studies and success stories, providing an in-depth look at best practices and lessons learned in this emerging field.
The global summit, which runs through May 8, also features interactive workshops, brainstorming sessions and networking opportunities aimed at fostering the exchange of ideas and strengthening collaborations.
