Author of 9 goals and 21 assists in all competitions, Ziyech, who will join Chelsea when next season resumes, has been voted best Ajax player for the third consecutive time.

The Atlas Lion, who was a star at Ajax for four seasons, has signed a 5-year contract to join Frank Lampard’s Blues for the sum of 44 million euros.

Unable to say goodbye on the pitch following the definitive end of the Eredivisie season due to the coronavirus, Ajax’s number 22 was given a vibrant tribute by the Amsterdam club.

Indeed, in a report entitled “Wizards of Ams”, published Thursday on the Dutch club’s website, the Moroccan was invited to react to videos of the most significant moments of his time at the club since his arrival in 2016.

Between joy and bitterness, the 27-year-old striker relived on video the best moments of his young career marked by victories including those against the great Real Madrid in the 8th finals of the Champions League and against Juventus in the quarter-finals of the prestigious European competition. The Moroccan also recalled his semi-final loss against Tottenham Spurs which deprived the Ajacides of the C1 final.

Hakim Ziyech also spoke about the difficult period he went through when his friend and Moroccan teammate Abdelhak Nouri suffered a serious heart attack during a pre-season friendly match he was playing on July 8, 2017 with Ajax against Werder Bremen.

Moved and in tears, the Moroccan watched videos of messages from his teammates but also from his mother who, speaking in Darija, wished him good luck in his new London adventure.
