President Edgars Rinkēvičs tweeted his deepest condolences to Latimir’s relatives, friends and colleagues, upon her passing away.
The archive of the LETA agency shows that Latimira was born in 1958.
She entered politics in 1998, when she was elected to the 7th Saeima from the “New Party”. In the Parliament, she headed several commissions, including the Budget and Finance Commission of the Saeima.
In 1999, she ran for the presidential election, but was not elected.
Later, the Saeima confirmed her as the Minister of Economy under the leadership of Viļas Kristopanas.
Latimira was also elected to the 8th Saeima from the “Union of Greens and Farmers” list, becoming the chairman of the parliament.
The politician also ran for a job in the 9th Saeima, but was not elected.
She also worked in the Riga City Council as a freelance adviser to the mayor, worked on the board of VAS “Latvian State Radio and Television Center” (LVRTC). She was nominated for the position of European Commissioner, the position of the President of the Bank of Latvia and others.
Before entering politics, Latimira also worked in the Protocols Department of the Department of External Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture as a senior specialist, was the chief accountant of JSC “SWH Rīga”, sworn auditor of Latvia, SIA “Coopers & Lybrand Latvija” (later “PriceWaterhouseCoopers”) and audit manager of the University of Latvia Lecturer at the Institute of Accounting.
