“Starting from December 28, approximately one million families, meeting the required eligibility threshold of the Unified Social Register, or the equivalent of 3.5 million Moroccans, will benefit from the first tranche of this financial support, the value of which will not be less than 500 dirhams per family, regardless of its composition, after these families have submitted their files before December 10 and their files have been processed,” explained Mr. Akhannouch in a speech at the opening of the meeting of the Government Council.
The rest of the families who submitted their files after the aforementioned date will receive the December and January payments at the end of next month, assured the head of government, adding that the door for submitting files remains open to families meeting the eligibility threshold, in order to benefit from direct social support in the future.
After welcoming the fact that the government has started, this week, to pay the first tranches of direct social assistance to families who meet the eligibility criteria, Mr. Akhannouch stressed that the government has received, through the electronic portal www.asd.ma, since its launch in early December and to date, more than 1.9 million applications, noting that this number continues to increase daily.
He indicated that 2023 represents a pivotal year in the process of implementing the projects of the “social state” and making available financial resources to ensure their sustainability, whether it is the generalization of compulsory health insurance, direct social assistance intended for families in situations of poverty or precariousness, or assistance for the acquisition of the main residence.
Regarding the reform of the education system, Mr. Akhannouch indicated that it will only be able to achieve its objectives by strengthening the place and roles of teachers, adding that “it is for this reason that we have taken care to create a climate of trust with this category by improving in particular its financial situation, something reflected in the agreement of December 10 and the granting of a net and general monthly increase in salaries of at least 1,500 dirhams, the most important in the history of the Kingdom which will cost the State finances more than 10 billion dirhams per year.”
On the other hand, Mr. Akhannouch stressed that thanks to the High Royal Instructions, the government has managed to transform the challenges caused by the Al Haouz earthquake into opportunities, by ensuring the reconstruction and development operation of the affected provinces.
Thanks to the enlightened vision of HM the King, the government was able to manage this crisis with the required diligence and efficiency, in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines, added Mr. Akhannouch, noting that the Kingdom has shown great resilience in the face of various challenges.
Mr. Akhannouch also praised the constant and responsible commitment shown by the ministers in the context of monitoring the major projects that the government is working to implement, stressing that the Executive aspires through these projects to contribute to the development of the Morocco of tomorrow, as a country of dignity and equal opportunities for all Moroccans.
