/ The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Saturday that five citizens were killed while collecting truffles in the Jab al-Jarrah area in the eastern countryside of Homs Governorate, by gunmen riding motorcycles.
The agency quoted a security source in the governorate’s police command as saying, “A number of terrorists riding motorcycles opened fire on five citizens while they were collecting truffles in the Jab al-Jarrah area in the eastern Homs countryside, killing them instantly.”
SANA pointed out that armed groups, some of which belong to ISIS, are spreading in the rugged areas deep in the Syrian desert, carrying out repeated attacks on citizens and residential areas on the outskirts of the desert, especially during the truffle harvesting season, which leads to the killing and wounding of a number of them.
