The cold wave that crosses Chile froze the arena of the Mariscadero beach en Pelluhue.

A video is circulating on X – formerly Twitter – showing what the sand on Mariscadero beach in Pelluhue, Chile, looks like, completely frozen, due to the low temperatures recorded in the state.

In recent days, temperatures of -3.5 degrees Celsius were recorded in the town of Maule, which gave rise to the phenomenon.

However, in the Chilean capital, temperatures below 0 degrees have been recorded, which has caused the days to be freezing due to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation phenomenon, so cold weather is expected, as it is estimated that the weather conditions will persist until next Sunday, July 14.

While it is true that it is an unusual phenomenon, a similar thing happened a week ago in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, where the sea appeared frozen.

According to Cindy Fernández, a SMN communicator, this has less to do with the sub-zero temperatures that have been maintained over the last few days, but rather with the waves and the wind.

“The low movement of the waves, combined with the low wind, produces freezing.”

However, both phenomena have impacted both nearby residents and Internet users.
