It is reminded that there are cases when VMI’s name is used in an attempt to commit fraud, for example, when sending SMS messages or other messages, referring to websites that impersonate VMI.

How to recognize such messages so that you do not become a victim of fraud and what is important to know if you have already found yourself in such a situation?

First of all, VMI does not send SMS messages containing additional links to residents.

Customers can receive SMS messages on behalf of VMI after registering for a visit or, for example, due to a received message in the VMI system, but the link to them is not provided.

Other institutions do not send SMS messages with information about VMI.

In the SMS message sent by fraudsters, the name of the sender, which the recipient of the SMS message can see on his phone, may be indicated by VMI, but this does not mean that the message was sent by VMI.

If the received message contains a link not to VMI’s website or VMI’s information systems, but to other web addresses that may sometimes be visually similar to the VMI website’s web address, we advise you not to click on links in suspicious messages.

The actual link in the received message may be masked. You can see the actual link by carefully hovering over the link without clicking on it.

Fraudsters have created websites visually similar to the websites of VMI and other institutions, news portals. Such scam sites provide false information, fictitious stories of success in investing in cryptocurrencies, offers to invest, increase income, fill out tax evasion forms, etc.

The address of the VMI website is and the addresses of all VMI information systems have the suffix .vmi.lt before the first slash “/” (eg:

Scammers often use very similar emails. e-mail addresses with similar endings (eg: @vmi.com, @vni.lt, @vmi.org. or [email protected])

Sometimes fraudsters indicate the email address of a VMI employee as the sender of the letter. e-mail address, so when you receive such a letter, you should pay attention to the sender’s second e-mail address. e-mail address: if it does not match the VMI e-mail specified above email address (eg: “), this means that the actual e-mail address of the sender e-mail address is not of VMI employee and VMI of this e-mail address. did not send the letter.

Suppose you suddenly receive a message stating that you will be refunded a certain amount; you are asked to pay a debt that you know nothing about and do not understand where it could have come from; please click on the link and fill out the unclear form; you receive a notification that you will be granted benefits or will not have to pay taxes at all; you receive a message from VMI with an e-mail address document attached to the letter.

VMI does not send messages with attached documents on its own initiative.

Along with email You can receive a document attached to My VMI messages sent by mail only if you have independently selected this function in your My VMI account.
