Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is going all out to secure national funds for next year. As the second review of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance for new and increased budgets begins in earnest this week, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is conducting a series of interviews with key officials from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and is going all out to secure national funds for next year.

Starting with the meeting between Governor Kim Jin-tae and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok on the 10th, Deputy Governor Kim Myeong-seon visited the Ministry of Strategy and Finance on the 15th and met with Second Vice Minister Kim Yun-sang, Budget Office Director Kim Dong-il, and Economic Budget Deliberation Director Kang Yun-jin to explain the legitimacy and necessity of next year’s pending projects and request national budget support.

The total number of projects suggested that day is 10, worth 113.1 billion won. Major SOC projects include ➊ KRW 50 billion in increased total project cost and construction cost for the 2nd Gyeongchun National Road, ➋ KRW 3 billion for early passage of the Yeongwol-Samcheok Expressway feasibility study and feasibility study, and key pending projects include ➊ KRW 1.7 billion for establishing a semiconductor K-materials and parts production base, ➋ KRW 2.5 billion for supporting the promotion of an AI-based future mobility circular economy, ➌ KRW 2.8 billion for creating an industrial environment to promote the use of digital health data, ➍ KRW 3 billion for developing early diagnosis and prevention solutions for geriatric diseases, ➎ KRW 2.8 billion for developing innovative health aging natural products technology tailored to the type of aging, ➏ KRW 2 billion for establishing a carbon dioxide capture, storage, and utilization promotion center, ➐ KRW 25 billion for an early mine closure area economic promotion project, and ➑ KRW 300 million for establishing the Gangwon National Veterans Plaza.

Kim Myeong-seon, the acting governor, said, “Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is currently putting in a lot of effort to leap forward as a global city for future industries, and the project I suggested today will serve as a foundation for this, and we will do our best to secure national funds so that it can be promoted next year without fail.”

Meanwhile, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced that it plans to continuously operate a permanent response system until the end of August when the Ministry of Strategy and Finance’s deliberation is completed, to ensure that next year’s national budget projects are reflected in the government plan as much as possible by strengthening the cooperative system with the province, cities, counties, and political circles.
