On the 15th, President Yoon Seok-yeol appointed Jeong Hye-jeon, a former journalist and senior administrative officer at the Public Relations Planning Secretary’s Office, as the new spokesperson for the Office of the President.

Jeong Nae-jeong is a journalist who has worked at both newspapers and broadcasting companies. He entered the media industry as a reporter for the Segye Ilbo in 1999, and worked as a reporter for the Maeil Business Newspaper and the Chosun Ilbo before joining TV Chosun as a founding member in 2011.

At TV Chosun, he worked as a reporter for the social affairs and economic departments, deputy chief of the political department, international department head, and culture department head, and hosted the current affairs programs ‘Golden Punch’ and ‘Shoot the News.’ He was the anchor for News 9, TV Chosun’s main news on weekdays.

In 2017, after 19 years in journalism, he joined the global consulting firm McKinsey & Company and worked as a director of external cooperation. He then worked as the head of the mobile division (executive director) at IHQ.

Jeong Nae-jeong began her public service career by being recruited to the Office of the President in December of last year. In a phone call with Newsis, she said, “I joined the Office of the President because I wanted to contribute to society and the country with the diverse experiences I gained in newspapers, broadcasting, and the private sector.”

He graduated from Anyang High School in Gyeonggi Province and the Department of Applied Statistics at Yonsei University. He received a master’s degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Immediately after the announcement of his appointment, Jeong Nae-jeong said, “I feel a great sense of responsibility as I am taking on the role of spokesperson during these difficult times,” and “I will become a spokesperson who can communicate more intimately and clearly.”
