The cancellation of his uncle

L’8 October 2015 it’s the last day we have news from Mario Bozzoli. Irene Zerbini, the entrepreneur’s wife receives a call from her husband shortly after 7pm: “I remember he told me he was going to take a shower and then leave the factory”. Sometimes pass and there is no news on the entrepreneur. Around 11pm, after trying to contact him several times, Zerbini took his son Claudio with him to the complaint: “He is a very thorough and meticulous man. Without receiving an answer to my phone calls I immediately realized that something had happened.” The woman says that a particular climate was created within the company: in reality Bozzoli was not with his brother, who was also the head of the company.

That evening in Marcheno there were other workers, as well as Alex and Giacomo Bozzoli, the sons of Adelio, Mario’s brother. Six days later one of the employees leaves: Giuseppe Ghirardini, a worker in the foundry’s large furnace, calls a friend to cancel a hunting trip due to bad weather and gets into the car, heading towards Valcamonica. He was found dead on 18 October 2015 in the woods of Case di Viso: knocked down by a cyanide capsule found in his stomach.

The investigation

After the disappearance of Mario, investigations began, hypothesizing a murder almost immediately, despite the fact that the company was arrested only a week later. Some of the workers were also questioned for various reasons (for help and encouragement). According to the prosecutor’s office, Mario was killed and thrown into the oven, This hypothesis was abandoned in the years after the case was invoked by the general power of attorney but then it came back into vogue in the spring of 2022, during the first stage trial, after the scale judicial experiment ordered by the Court of Justice – with little pig of 13.2 kilograms – to understand, in light of the different conclusions of the party’s technical advisers, what would happen, what the reactions and the times.

On behalf of the deputy prosecutors Silvio Bonfigli and Marco Martani, who requested and received a life sentence against him, Giacomo would attack his uncle near the ovens, only then to entrust the body to Ghirardini, who would throw it into the big oven “in return”.. According to the investigators, Giacomo killed for an economic reason. He was tired of an uncle who did not share his brother and nephews in the management of the company, ready to flow invoices, save on alloys and defraud insurance: not surprisingly, in Mario’s car – and he is sure of the this accusation – an invoice was received for over 46 thousand euros for work that was never done to repair one of the ovens.
