The new star of Bulgarian canoeing and kayaking, Ioana Georgieva, was declared innocent by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne on charges of violating anti-doping rules. Thus, our talented kayaker has the right to compete for Bulgaria at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. What’s more – immediately after the release of the decision, she was declared to participate in the World Canoe-Kayak Championship under the age of 23 in Plovdiv, which starts on July 17.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne announced its decision:
Ioana Georgieva is innocent of the charge of violating the anti-doping rules!
The temporary suspension of the rights of Ioana Georgieva, imposed on June 10, 2024, is revoked.
This means that Ioana Georgieva has the right to represent Bulgaria at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Ioana Georgieva will also take part in the Under-23 Canoe-Kayak World Championship in Plovdiv in the 500 m single seater kayak.
Ioana Georgieva was represented in the case by lawyers Elena Todorovska and Boris Kolev.
The Bulgarian Canoe-Kayak Federation thanks everyone who sent their unreserved support to Ioana Georgieva and believed in her innocence from the first moment of the accusation.
