Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has warned that the Awami League will not accept any rise of anti-independence forces defeated in the liberation war.
He said this at a press conference at the Awami League president’s political office in Dhanmondi of the capital on Sunday (July 15).
Obaidul Quader said that the leaders behind the movement, Matlabbaz, Kushilbas distorted the speech given in the press conference of the Prime Minister on Sunday to serve their interests. The prime minister said in response to a question of the journalists, the grandchildren of freedom fighters will not get the quota benefit, but the grandchildren of Razakar will get it? He said this correctly.
“The blood bath of 3 million martyrs cannot be the law of Razakar. I want to say firmly that the Bengali nation will not tolerate any insult to the great liberation war, brave freedom fighters. We will not accept any rise of evil forces defeated in the independence of Bangladesh.
The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that if a brave freedom fighter or an activist of Bangabandhu’s ideology is alive, the inaction of the defeated evil forces will be prevented to the last drop of blood. Students who do not respect the great self-sacrifice of university students and teachers, feel proud to identify themselves as Razaka, do not feel ashamed to identify themselves as students of Dhaka University?
‘How can those who disregard the original pledge of the state be brilliant? How do they capture the aspirations of the nation or the students?’
Referring to the fact that most of the students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s family are students of Dhaka University, Awami League General Secretary said, “We are running the state under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, keeping the spirit of the great liberation war.” We will strictly resist any evil forces against the liberation war. This is our commitment.
‘I will not accept any suffering in public life in the name of movement. We cannot accept any gatherings that cause public suffering.’
Claiming that BNP-Jamaat has a hand in the movement, this government minister said, “We have already noticed that the Kushilab Jamaat-BNP has been exposed as an evil force of this movement. I call upon all the supporters of the liberation war to raise their voice against the rise of the evil forces of the liberation war.
Obaidul Quader replied to the question whether the 24-hour ultimatum to the Prime Minister was a vision or not. It is oddity of the highest order.
In response to the question that the agitators are demanding the Prime Minister to withdraw his speech, the Bridge Minister said that this is an extreme view.
In response to a question on Sunday night about the students calling themselves Razakars, he said, BCL is enough to answer the statements made by some leaders in the anti-quota student movement, the self-confessed Razakars, who have expressed their arrogant mentality.
‘Student affairs will be confined within the campus. We will see who comes out politically, then we will see. We are also ready to deal.’
