The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced its ambition to establish at least 50 sets of standards governing AI. According to media reporters, Beijing wants to streamline work in the AI field and reduce the gap with the United States in the tech industry.

According to MIIT speakers, accelerating the integration of AI into the country’s economy “will profoundly change industrial production and economic development models.” “This is an innovation-oriented and market-friendly approach to regulation,” Yu Chuanman, director of the Center for Regulation and Global Governance at the Institute of International Relations, assessed the plans of the Chinese authorities.
