Joint general secretary of Awami League and Member of Parliament of Dhaka-8 Constituency A F M Bahauddin Nashim commented that BNP-Jamaat wants to steal political advantage by inciting the quota opponents.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a function organized by the Bangladesh Awami Volunteer League on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s imprisonment day at the Kakrail Institute of Diploma Engineering in the capital on Tuesday (July 16) afternoon.
Obaidul Quader said, BNP-Jamaat is misleading our young generation, future generations. They are inciting the quota agitators to attack the path of terror. They want to spoil the political advantage by worsening the situation.
He said, due to the movement, people are suffering. The people of the country cannot accept this public suffering. We cannot accept that a group of students will create public suffering on the shoulders of students. We think that the matter pending before the court will be decided by the court. If any opportunity comes to the government after the court verdict, then surely the government will solve it fairly and gracefully. There is no chance of any kind of disruption in this regard.
Mentioning that the rule of law and courts should be respected, this Awami League leader said that respect should always be shown. The government has no chance to do anything outside the court. There is no reason why students should not understand this. A group is trying to mislead the students.
Nashim said that Dhaka University has contributed the most to Bengali culture, self-identity, consciousness of liberation war, language movement and great liberation war. When some students of that university express their pride as the children of Razakar, shout slogans in vulgar language, show arrogance that they do not believe in the spirit of the liberation war; All professional people including students, youth society of Bangladesh could not accept that arrogance. There is no way to accept it.
He said, we will call for the publication of the list of these Razakars. We also want to highlight the identity of those who consider themselves the legacy of Razakar to the people of Bangladesh. Now I will resist them through patience, courage and tolerance against this conspiratorial BNP Jamaat. We will not give exemption to those who will go outside the interests of the people of the country.
Awami Swachhasebak League president Gazi Mejbaul Haque Sacchu presided over and General Secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu moderated the event, Awami League organizing secretary Sujit Roy Nandi was present as a special guest.
