This Saturday was rescued and man who tried to throw himself out of the second floor of the Periférico.

On the morning of July 13, a man who jumped over the security fence on the second floor of Periférico, near San Antonio, was rescued.

The man, who said he was 23 years old, was secured with harnesses and brought safely down to street level, thanks to the personnel of Civil Protection and the Heroic Fire Department of Mexico City; the man was later treated by Red Cross paramedics.

What was the man doing on the Periférico?

According to reports, the suspect had been walking along the artery since 5 a.m., but then decided to climb onto a pillar and jump into the void from a height of 40 meters.

After realizing the situation, the capital authorities tried to convince the subject not to jump from the second floor of the Periférico, which lasted for almost two hours.

In the images circulating on social media, two Civil Protection officers can be seen talking to the man, while using harnesses to try to get him out of danger.

Something worth noting is that during the conversation, the victim said he was depressed and that he no longer wanted to live, but he was also afraid of dying.

It was also reported that the subject had a sharp weapon, with which he threatened to harm himself if the security elements approached him.

On the other hand, it was reported that due to the events, traffic was affected for several minutes on the second level of the Periférico, as well as in the lower and lateral lanes due to the rescue actions carried out by the CDMX authorities.
