San Salvador. The Attorney General of the Republic, Rodolfo Delgado, and the Minister of Housing, Michelle Sol, announced the opening of the headquarters and a branch of Argoz, the subsidiary company that defrauded thousands of families who bought lots through that company.

In these offices, technical information will be given and the families concerned will be found to begin the process of delivering deeds that Argoz has denied them for more than 40 years, due to the inaction of the Arena and FMLN governments.

In December 2023, legal action was initiated in relation to these scams, at which time two senior executives were arrested and the offices were closed to carry out the relevant investigations.

Delgado said that the agencies will open in stages across the country in the near future to serve the affected community and, at this moment, the real estate deeds have been successively delivered, warning the developers that justice be done to the owners. . Salvadorans were deceived for years.

“The families were victims of a mafia scheme for more than 40 years, a scheme that did not allow them to properly register their property rights on the properties acquired with great sacrifice,” the official claimed.

He also said, in the country, “we respect the free market but we will not allow some people, taking advantage of the needs of families, to try to influence them.”

Meanwhile, Housing Minister Michelle Sol confirmed that the central office (headquarters) and Argoz branch were opened in San Salvador this Monday, July 8, because a new administration has begun in that company; The previous managers did not have the documentation of the buyers in order, a lot of documentation had to be collected from the ground to retrieve the necessary ones and make an inventory.

The Minister also said that a collective case table has been established to listen to people who have been defrauded at Argoz, and that 654 subdivisions have been defined, distributed as follows: La Libertad, 149; San Salvador, 139; Santa Claus, 99; Peace, 74; Sonsonate, 48; Ahuachapán, 37; Usulutan, 28; San Miguel, 22; Trash 22; Chalatenango 13; La Union and San Vicente eight each; and Cabañas, seven.

bankruptcy was declared in 78 of the 654 subdivisions; 93 simple requests for separation were made to the CNR; about 200 cases are being written; 70 deeds are about to be delivered, which were found ready to be given to the families, but Argoz did not give them and it is not known why.

Of the total divisions, only 6% are controlled; 3% are regular; irregular cases without process, is 81%; and the other 11% have different situations. The families had already paid 90% of the lots (this equates to 147 million dollars paid to Argoz) without giving them deeds.

10% is pending payment, the offices are now open to pay and get your case in order. No interest will be charged on late payments under Argoz closure.
