From 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today, the movement of heavy goods vehicles over 20 tons will be restricted on road sections in the territory of nine regions – Ruse, Shumen, Varna, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Targovishte, Razgrad and Silistra due to the high temperatures , reported the press center of the “Road Infrastructure” Agency.
In the Ruse region, the movement of heavy trucks will be restricted on the I-2 Ruse – Razgrad road in the section from the Ruse exit in the direction of Razgrad at the 12th km to the 37th km, as well as on the I-5 Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo road from the Ruse exit at the 6th to the 65th km. Traffic will also be stopped on the I-5 road in the section from the city of Byala in the direction of Ruse to the city of Ruse.
Traffic will be temporarily restricted in the Shumen and Varna regions in a section of the Hemus highway (AM) from the 311th km near Bukhovtsi to the 376th km near Nevsha and from the 376th km to the 425th km in the Varna region.
A ban is also introduced on the I-4 Targovishte – Shumen road, in the Cherencha section – road junction “Belokopitovo” from km 250 to km 258.
In the territories of the Shumen and Razgrad regions, heavy goods vehicles will be stopped for movement on the section of the road I-2 Ruse – Shumen – Varna, and in the regions of Silistra and Shumen on the first-class road I-7 Silistra – Shumen.
In the regions of Lovech and Gabrovo, the movement of heavy trucks is restricted on the section of the first-class road I-4 between Koritna and the village of Balaban – from the 10th km to the 110th km. A ban is also introduced on the I-5 border Veliko Tarnovo – Dryanovo – Gabrovo – Stara Zagora border between km 115 and km 144.
The traffic of heavy goods vehicles over 20 tons on the territory of the regions of Veliko Tarnovo and Targovishte will be temporarily restricted on road I-4 Sevlievo – Veliko Tarnovo – Targovishte between the villages of Novo Selo and Cherencha – from km 101 to km 250. Heavy goods traffic will also be stopped in a section of the first-class road I-5 Polski Trumbesh – Veliko Tarnovo – Gabrovo from the region of Polski Trumbesh to Debelec – from km 65 to km 115, as well as on road II-55 Debelec – Predela – Gurkovo, in the section from Debelec to the village of Mishemorkov Khan.
API specified that the suspension of heavy goods traffic in certain sections of the republican road network in the afternoon hours, when the temperatures are the highest, is to minimize the risks of deformations of the road surface and to protect the life and health of travelers.
The Road Agency added that when traffic is stopped, heavy goods vehicles will wait outside the roadway in certain places without disturbing other road users. The restriction does not apply to motor vehicles transporting perishable food, temperature controlled cargo, live animals and dangerous cargo, the API states categorically.
Yesterday, traffic was also restricted to heavy goods vehicles over 20 tons on road sections of Ruse, Shumen, Veliko Tarnovo, Targovishte, Razgrad and Silistra regions due to expected high temperatures above 35 degrees.
The movement of trucks in some areas of the country was also restricted on July 14, as well as on Saturday – July 13.
