On September 4, the one-year government bond issue will expire September 2023, which has made it possible to raise a record amount of almost 22 billion euros. A deposit that the banks hope to keep. To compete with the future government bond, which is expected on September 5, they are all putting forward a series of financial products. Which will not eventually produce the same interests.

State bonds are managed by the general debt agency. On September 4, he will return their capital, plus interest, to the 542,670 subscribers. “It’s not every day that there are 22 billion on the market. So we are going to fight“, points out Alessandro Carlisi, manager of the Creylan bank agency in Liège. Savings accounts, term accounts, bonds… Banks are refining their products and have already started calling their affected customers .

To reinvest, you have to go to the national bank. That is to say, subscribe to the new government bonds, the conditions of which are not yet known. “From what we understood, they would not want to recover 3 to 4 billion from the 22. Therefore, there will be a large mass of liquidity on the market for the banks.“, help Alessandro Carlisi.

The gross product is not the actual result.

Be careful, some financial products from banks are complicated and not always transparent. So you have to read the fine print carefully: “Fees related to entry and exit, fees related to coupon, or dividend payment… All this means that the return you get is not the gross return“, explains Jean-Phillipe Ducart, spokesperson for Testachats.

If you choose to reinvest in a government bond, the subscription period will start on 5 September.
