Corinthians confirmed in a statement, this Tuesday (16), that it reached an agreement with Atlético in negotiations for midfielder Fausto Vera. Galo has already announced Argentina as a new player. Therefore, the São Paulo club will receive 4.5 million dollars (about R$24.7 million at current prices).

Fausto Vera arrived at Corinth in 2022 expecting him from Argentino Juniors, but his passage was irregular. At first, the midfielder had a positive performance under Portuguese coach Vítor Pereira, but then he lost space. In total, he played 96 games, scored two goals and provided four goals. He attracted the attention of the São Paulo club during the Olympic Games in Japan, in 2021.
As a replacement, Timão signed Alex Santana, who was at Athletico Paranaense. Fausto Vera arrived in Belo Horizonte, last Friday (13), to undergo medical examinations and to sign a contract that will be valid until the end of 2027.
Coach Gabriel Milito, who he worked with at Argentino Juniors and who will wear the number 18 shirt, suggested signing him. Negotiations between Coringão and Galo were extended for a few weeks. In fact, the midfielder was absent from training and even from the match list. The main reason is that Corinthians did not accept what Atlético had proposed.
