“I think that it should take a little more analysis to see how this electoral process for the candidates to the Judicial Branch is going to be implemented; as far as we had reviewed, but it was not contemplated, whether the budget of the National Electoral Institute could be reduced, but now considering that it is another (election process) it would have to be reviewed,” said the legislator.

Interviewed after presenting the final activity report of the commission he chairs, spoke out in favor of reviewing again the possibility of cutting the INE and “accounts are done” in order to successfully carry out the election of officials of the Power of attorney.
“Now that the budget arrives, we should discuss this so that there is not a decrease but rather an increase so that everything goes well,” said Sánchez Ortiz.
For this year, the INE requested from the beginning 37 thousand 770 million pesosbut the deputies decided to approve only 32 thousand 767 million pesos, a decrease of 13.2% of what the institute itself considered was required for this year in which the largest elections in the history of the country were held.

However, the amount approved by the lower house represented a 54% increase compared to the 2023 budget, which was not an election year.
