In July 2024, it is planned to transport 140 thousand tons of Kazakh oil through the port of Aktau in the direction of Baku.
As reported by Day.Az, a source in JSC KazTransOil (the national operator of the main oil pipeline of Kazakhstan) told Trend about this on Wednesday.
“In July 2024, it is planned to transport 140 thousand tons of oil from the resources of Tengizchevroil LLP through the port of Aktau in the direction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline,” the source noted.
In addition, the company previously told Trend that there are no changes in the plans for the volume of transportation in this direction by the end of 2024.
“Currently, it is planned that up to 1.5 million tons of oil will be transported through the Aktau port in the direction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline throughout 2024. KazTransOil delivers oil in accordance with the oil transportation schedule. This schedule is approved by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan based on applications from shippers,” the company said.
It should be noted that, according to the results of 2023, the loading of oil into tankers in the port of Aktau using the capacities of KazTransOil amounted to 3.376 million tons, including 1.057 million tons in the direction of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan. In general, in 2023, Kazakhstan transported 1.392 million tons of oil via BTC, which is 5.5 times more than in 2022.
Let us recall that in 2022, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to increase the volume of oil transportation along the Trans-Caspian corridor. In accordance with this instruction, JSC NC KazMunayGas and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) signed an agreement providing for the transportation of 1.5 million tons of oil per year from the Tengiz field in the direction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
In addition, during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Azerbaijan on March 11-12, KazMunayGas and SOCAR signed an agreement to increase the volume of oil transportation via BTC to 2.2 million tons per year.
