The General Traffic Directorate announced today, Monday, the intensification of the deployment of its personnel as part of its plan aimed at achieving smooth traffic flow during the Ashura visit, noting that directives were issued to facilitate and ease the movement of citizens in Baghdad, Karbala and neighboring governorates.

The Director of the Relations and Media Department in the Directorate, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Al-Hassoun, told the (INA): “The directives of the Minister of Interior, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Police Affairs, and the Director General of Traffic focused on the necessity for the plan of the General Traffic Directorate for this year in the month of Muharram to be smooth in traffic movement in Baghdad as well as the governorates adjacent to the holy shrines of Karbala, Najaf, and Babylon.”
Al-Hassoun pointed out, “There is a wide spread of traffic police at the entrances to the governorates and inside them, especially at intersections and main streets, in order to facilitate traffic movement, especially since the plan does not include any interruptions during the visit days.”
He added, “Recommendations were also issued to provide the best services to citizens, treat them well, and raise awareness of adhering to the rules and laws regulating traffic.”
