jpnn.comJAKARTA – The association of alternative tobacco product business actors and consumers delivered the TAR Free Movement declaration at the 2024 Asia Pacific Harm Reduction Forum (APHRF) in Jakarta, recently.

APHRF is a forum that discusses issues regarding reducing the harms of tobacco use in the Asia Pacific.

The declaration is a commitment by the associations to maximize alternative tobacco products, such as electronic cigarettes (vapes) and heated tobacco products, for adult smokers as part of efforts to switch from smoking.

The problem is, many smokers can’t quit smoking. The association stressed that this product is specifically intended for adult smokers aged 18 and over.

The Declaration of the TAR-Free Movement is contained in three points. First, the commitment to sell alternative tobacco products to adult smokers.

Secretary General of the Indonesian Personal Vaporizer Association (APVI), Garindra Kartasmita, emphasized that his party ensures that products are only sold to adult smokers, not to minors, non-smokers, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

“We will ensure that all members of our association comply with the applicable rules and regulations regarding the sale of this product,” said Garindra.

Garindra also ensures the quality of products produced and distributed to consumers. This is the second commitment point from the combined association of producers and consumers.
