Physical presentation of an Azerbaijani citizen’s identity card will not be mandatory when receiving services in public and private organizations.
As reported to Day.Az on Wednesday by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency of Azerbaijan, from now on, the provision of requested identification data by citizens through the “mygov” application will be equated to the physical presentation of an identity card.
Thus, a citizen will be able to exchange his/her ID data with another party by logging into the “mygov” application. Also, through the application, a citizen will be able to view data on when, where and to which institution he/she provided his/her ID data in the application.
Presenting ID through mygov will provide organisations with benefits such as simpler and faster transactions, reduced need for physical ID presentation and minimised use of paper. The Agency for Innovation and Digital Development continues to encourage organisations to integrate this process into more service areas.
Please note that, along with identification, marriage, birth and death certificates submitted through “mygov” will have the same legal force as their physical presentation.
Let us recall that on July 16, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a decree “On the application of the law “On Amendments to the Family Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the Identity Card of a Citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, “On Information, Informatization and Information Protection” and “On Personal Data” dated June 28, 2024 No. 1193-VIGD and “On Amendments to Decree No. 729 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 19, 1998 “On the Application of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Information, Informatization and Information Protection””.
