/ Asmaa Mohammed, the first wife of former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, revealed on Friday new details and secrets about the leader of the organization that terrorized the world for years.
Among the secrets Asmaa revealed during the interview, she said that she was shocked after her husband prevented her from praying for mercy for her father, questioning his religion, adding: “He prevented me from praying for mercy for my father, and this led me to doubt my faith.”
Regarding Al-Baghdadi’s relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood, she explained that her husband was inclined towards the Brotherhood’s ideology and that he had betrayed the Al-Nusra Front and accused Al-Qaeda of apostasy and misguided thinking.
Asmaa Mohammed also revealed her rejection of the idea of her son Hudhaifa getting married when he was fifteen years old, noting that his marriage was a farce because he was still a child at the time, despite carrying a weapon.
Al-Baghdadi’s wife prevented her son from marrying Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s daughter, and in the end he married her niece, noting that her son “Hudhayfah” was killed and she does not know the location of his body until now.
It is noteworthy that Asmaa Muhammad was arrested in Turkey in June 2018, in Hatay province, which borders Syria, but the Turkish authorities did not announce her arrest before November 2019.
Ankara revealed at the time that al-Baghdadi’s widow had been arrested along with ten other people, including his daughter Laila, while a Turkish official said at the time that she was al-Baghdadi’s “first wife.”
Last week, the Iraqi judicial authorities announced the interrogation of al-Baghdadi’s “family”, explaining that they were brought back from outside the country, without specifying or giving further details.
