Bond classification
In Ecuador, eight types of bonuses or pensions are given:
- Human Development Bonus: USD 55 per month
- Human Development Bonus with Variable Component: from USD 55 to USD 150 per month
- My Best Years Pension: USD 100 per month
- Pension for Life: USD 100 per month
- 1,000 Days Bonus: USD 60 per month plus three additional payments of USD 90 and two payments of USD 120. This pension is received by pregnant mothers until their children are two years old.
- Contingency bonus: the value of a basic family basket
- Contingency coverage: From USD 115 to USD 460
- Orphanhood bonus: for minors who are orphaned because their mother was a victim of femicide. The amount varies.
As of May 2024 they were 874,167 people who received between $55 and $150 per month from the first two types of bonuses. The number of users represents 61.89% of the total beneficiaries of state subsidies.
He National government has paid this year more than 525 million dollars for bonds and has budgeted to disburse USD 1.3 billion throughout 2024.
According to the Executive, the bonuses and pensions provided by the Mies aim to guarantee a minimum income to families in vulnerable and poor situations “to mobilize them towards a state of greater well-being in the medium and long term.”
Between 2023 and 2024, more than 80,000 people stopped receiving some type of bonus, but this does not mean that their economy has improved. In Ecuador, 6.7 million people live in poverty.
