American President, Joe Biden, that he may reconsider his election candidacy if a “medical” problem arises. This stems from an interview published last Wednesday, amid questions about his health.
“If I had some medical problem that came up, if someone came, if the doctors came and said ‘you have a problem like that'”Biden told BET in an interview recorded Tuesday when asked what might make him reconsider his candidacy in the November elections.
Biden became embroiled in controversy after his poor performance in the first presidential debate with Donald Trump last month. The decision to postpone that first four-month duel showed that a leader was lacking in response, slow and with unclear phrases. Biden is 81 years old and is the oldest president in American history.
His performance in the debate was so bad campaign donors threatened to stop funding the Democratic Party if Biden did not resign. Some names came up, such as Vice President Kamala Harris or former first lady Michelle Obama.
The truth is that Biden himself has the final say. Only he can decide whether to apply or not. The Democratic Party Convention will begin on August 19 in Chicago and then the formula will be defined. It will be seen if Biden, who, according to polls, is about six points behind Trump in voting intention, accepts to be a candidate at that meeting or if a name is defined to take his place in a month.
