How to live healthier in today’s world, where everyone is in a hurry and there is less and less time for yourself? Why is it so important for a person to move? How to become long-lived? S. Tatz discussed these and other topics with the NVI community and answered their questions.
The lecturer’s visit was organized by the ambassador of the NVI Walking Club, Assoc. Dr. Birutė Brasiūnienė.
So what is the recipe for longevity? And how to be in good health at a respectable age? According to S. Tatz, the main ingredient is physical activity. “Start working on it from the age of twenty – move, move move… At a young age, it is better to move intensively 3 times a week. But after 40-50 years, it is better to move every day for at least 1 hour. Of course, it all depends on what kind of problems you have,” says S. Tatz.
What about nutrition? After all, these days, information about diets – even if it’s a cart. According to S. Tatz, you need to watch what you put in your mouth, but if you move a lot, you can definitely eat more satiatingly. “If you eat more, but use up calories, you can eat as much as you want. Of course, we know that these days there is a lot of unhealthy processed food, such as flour with a lot of added sugar. That is bad. But if we eat vegetables, fish, sometimes a good piece of meat, we will eat healthy,” says the lecturer.
According to the lecturer, even when living a healthy life, it is impossible to avoid stress or injuries. Therefore, if you have an injury or have other chronic health problems, it is very important to choose the right physiotherapist. “It is impossible to avoid stress. You need to constantly work on your psyche and your body. It is impossible to avoid, for example, a twisting of the leg. Or that someone won’t push you hard while playing basketball. But you need to know how to recover from these problems afterwards and, of course, be physically active.
Performing various exercises individually or in a group is not rehabilitation – it just smells like it. You need a physiotherapist to work with you personally for an hour at a time. He works with his hands, massages, and then tells what exercises to do and how to do it correctly,” concludes S. Tatz, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and experience in this work.

Some inspiring quotes from S. Tatz
– “If we know everything about our physical future, then maybe we should do something to make it easier, let’s not wait until it finally turns and we have to pay for expensive artificial joints.” And let’s remember that you can help yourself not only by going to expensive sports clubs, you can lie down on the floor at home and do exercises that really help, in addition, we can exercise outside – in a hotel room, in the park, while walking by the sea, on the lawn in the farmhouse or in the yard of the house . You don’t have to pay for it…”
– “When you choose what to do, the most important criterion should be – you have to do what is interesting and useful for you, not what brings money to others. Partly because of this, I don’t just collect the paintings I like, I decided to sometimes organize concerts in my house. I am holding the biggest concert on Soutine’s birthday – January 13. I always celebrate Soutine’s birthday instead of mine. We are preparing a special program…”
– “When the plane lands in Lithuania, my mood rises like yeast. Our family, about six generations, comes from Raseiniai. Six generations! Probably something in my bones, muscles remained from there…”
