The Deputy Special Representative said, “She met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs, Ambassador Michele Sison, and her colleagues, and discussed with them “the political process in Libya, the need to unify state institutions, and adopt a better governance approach to migration,” adding, “During the meeting, emphasis was placed on dialogue as a means to adopt a consensus budget.”
In a later meeting with Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass, Khoury discussed “ways to move the political process in Libya forward to elections.”
She pointed out that she and the American diplomat “stressed the importance of the role that the international community must play in coordination with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, in order to support the Libyans’ efforts to preserve Libya’s unity and sovereignty.”
