After leaving BVB, the former international player was looking for a new club on the home stretch of his career. Now the search seems to have been successful.
Is everything happening very quickly for Marco Reus now? The 35-year-old said goodbye to the Bundesliga when he left Borussia Dortmund at the end of the last season, but the attacker did not want to quit completely just yet.
And now it seems to be clear where Reus will continue his career: As Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports, negotiations with the US club LA Galaxy are well advanced. Although details still need to be clarified, Reus is ready for a move to Major League Soccer.
Reus did not receive a new contract at BVB after twelve years. Reus played in 429 competitive matches for Dortmund, scoring 170 goals and assisting 131 more. Reus won the DFB Cup twice with BVB. The Dortmund native says he is looking forward to “a new adventure” after his time with the Black and Yellows.
The portal “The Athletic” recently reported that there was great interest in Reus from Major League Soccer MLS. In addition to Los Angeles, Charlotte FC and St. Louis City are also said to have expressed interest in the German attacker. In an interview with t-online, Reus’ former BVB teammate, current St. Louis goalkeeper Roman Bürki, tried to convince the striker to move to the club (read more about this here). Bürki’s efforts were apparently unsuccessful. Football stars David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimović were also once under contract in Los Angeles.
