The Minister of Education in the Government of National Unity, Musa Al-Maqrif, followed up on the preparatory meeting of the Higher Committee for the National Mathematics Olympiad, in preparation for the launch of the second season at the beginning of the new academic year 2024-2025.
Al-Maqrif stressed that “organizing such competitions opens up multiple horizons for students and pupils, and contributes to creating an aware generation capable of competition.”
The meeting reviewed the conditions for participating in the Olympiad, the targeted age groups, the work plan of the supervising committees, and the provision of the necessary requirements for organizing it. It also discussed the plan for implementing the Olympiad, whose competitions will start at the beginning of the new academic year 2024-2025.
The media office explained, “The meeting targets the first level of the Olympiad, students in the seventh, eighth and ninth grades of primary education, and the second level, students in the secondary education stage. The Olympiad includes 4 stages of eliminations: “school, supervision, educational region, ministry,” in preparation for Arab, African and international participation.”
The meeting was held at the National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and was attended by the heads of the Ministry’s Educational Inspection and Guidance Department, “Jamal Al-Ezz,” the Olympiad Committee, “Khaled Al-Hatmani,” and the Department’s mathematics expert, Ms. “Ramadanah Al-Tawati.”
It is noteworthy that the Educational Inspection and Guidance Authority supervised the organization of the first season of the Olympiad, which witnessed the participation of 1,372 students from all education departments, 100 of whom qualified for each level, and 6 competitors from both levels reached the final stage.
