The Minister of Interior in charge of the Government of National Unity, Imad Trabelsi, confirmed that he had not received any official or unofficial request from Europe to settle immigrants inside Libya.

During his participation in the Migration Forum held in Tripoli, he pointed out that civil society organizations and the Libyan street reject this matter, and he considered the accumulation of migrants returning from the sea in Libya an attempt to settle them, despite the cooperation between Libya, Malta and Europe to reduce the waves of migration, which caused the accumulation of migrants in Libya and Tunisia.

The Minister stressed that European countries are keen on the unity and stability of Libya, but the problem is when we stand with Europe to stop immigration by sea, and they supported us with naval units, but this idea resulted in the accumulation of immigrants in Libya and Tunisia.

Al-Tarabulsi stressed that closing our borders with Tunisia contributed greatly to stopping the flow of migrants from Libya to Tunisia, and from there to Italy.

He expressed his aspiration for good relations with the European Union countries, and we want to make the illegal immigration file a basic file for them.

Pointing out that Africa is going through tensions and tribal wars like the one that Libya went through, where we went through political divisions and a civil war, and we hope to help our African brothers by establishing development projects, because the African citizen has nothing that prevents him from leaving his country and being in it, as need is what prompted him to immigrate.
