PRICES.

The price of gasoline will change from today, Friday, July 12, 2024, as established by Executive Decree 308. The document was signed by President Daniel Noboa last June.

The price of Extra and Ecopaís gasoline changed on July 12, 2024.

Starting this Friday, July 12, extra and ecopaís gasolines will be sold at 2.75 dollars per gallon and will be valid until August 11. The increase corresponds to 1% with respect to the price of 2.72, valid until this Thursday.

This increase must occur on the 12th of each month, according to the legal mechanism, and will take the price of oil as a reference. The price of Ecopaís gasoline and also that of Extra were modified this Friday.

The current scheme establishes the elimination of the subsidy with an initial increase, which began at $0.26 on Friday, June 28. That is, the new cost was in effect for just 14 days.

It therefore provides for the subsequent implementation of a system of bands that cannot have an increase of more than 5% per month, nor a reduction of more than 10% every 30 days.

President Daniel Noboa eliminated the subsidy for extra and ecopaís gasoline on June 28, 2024. On that date, the first increase in the price of fuel was made by 26 cents per gallon, going from 2.42 to 2.72 dollars. This increase constituted the first phase of the price stabilization scheme. This rate was in effect for only 14 days.

The price of gasoline will continue to change monthly, as established by Executive Decree 308.

To prevent increases in fares for taxis, tricycles and regulated vans, the Government has established a system of financial compensation for the owners of these types of vehicles.
