18 colored medals for Iraqi Paralympic champions on the fifth day of the West Asian Championship

/ The Athletics Federation raised the tally of the Iraqi Paralympic Committee delegation to 38 colored medals, after its players added 18 colored medals the day before yesterday, nine of which were gold, on the fifth day of the West Asian Championship competitions.

The press assistant of the Iraqi delegation, Hussein Al-Shammari, told Agency, “The gold medals were won by Khader Abbas in the discus throw event, Idris Sami in the 100m event, Nader Ibrahim in the 400m event, Jarrah Nassar in the discus throw event, Mohammed Fahd Samin in the 100m and 400m events, Ali Mubarak in the 400m event, Hussein Fadel in the javelin throw event, and Hussein Hassan in the weight throw event.”

He added, “As for the six silver medals, they were won by Ali Mubarak in the 100m event, Shaker Mahmoud in the 100m and 400m events, Ahmed Ghani in the discus throw event, Zahraa Najah in the shot put event, and Mohammed Talib in the shot put event.”

He pointed out that “the three bronze medals were won by Abdul Sattar Salman in the 100m event, Abbas Hatem in the 400m event, and Kofan Hassan in the discus throw event.”

The Vice President of the Athletics Federation and the current head of the delegation, Adnan Ali Kamar, confirmed to Shafak News Agency, “We are extremely happy and pleased that our male and female players are reaping these colorful medals that befit them.”

“Our federation’s activities have not ended yet, meaning that there are other races that will take place, and we expect to increase our collection of colored medals to confirm the superiority of our federation in winning medals in external competitions, and this is what we will confirm to everyone in the West Asian Championship, which is certainly a great achievement that is credited to the Paralympic Committee and to our persevering federation, and it is evidence of the correctness of the course and methodology of our work in the federation,” Kamar added.

The Iraqi wheelchair basketball team achieved a well-deserved victory over the Bahraini team with a score of 66-36 points in the match that took place between them at the Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled.

Thamer Majeed, Secretary of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation, told Shafak News Agency, “Thank God, our national team returned to the path of victories after its loss to the Saudi national team, achieving a valuable victory over the Bahraini national team.”

He continued, “Our national team will continue to achieve positive results, especially since our ambitions will not stop until we win the gold medal, which is not far from the reach of our players and coaching staff after they diagnosed the mistakes, and we will try to overcome them in the upcoming matches.”

As for the Vice President of the Blind Goal Football Federation, Mohammed Hashem, he told Shafak News Agency, “Congratulations to our team for defeating the UAE team due to disqualification 10-0 and the Saudi team 13-7. We will work to overcome all the mistakes we made in our match against Jordan, which we lost by a heavy score, and we will work to compensate for them in the upcoming matches.”
