Air quality in the area of the Olympic venues in France does not meet World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

As reported by Day.Az, this is stated in a report by the French association Respire.

“Almost all sports facilities have exceeded the WHO air pollution level,” the text notes.

Most of the capital’s sports facilities are located near the Paris ring road, where elevated NO2 emissions have been recorded. “Doing sports in such air conditions is dangerous to health,” the report quotes the association’s head, Tony Renucci, as saying.

The quality of the water in the Seine, where some swimming competitions are scheduled to take place, was previously considered unsatisfactory. Despite this, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo plans to swim in the river. French President Emmanuel Macron has previously expressed the same intention.

The Olympics in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11.
