The German Academy for Language and Poetry in Darmstadt wants to announce today who will receive the Georg Büchner Prize in 2024. Then it will be clear who will be the successor to the writer and poet Lutz Seiler. The prize, worth 50,000 euros, will be awarded on November 2nd at the Darmstadt State Theatre. The prize, which has been awarded since 1951, is one of the most important literary prizes in the German states. It is named after the artist and revolutionary Georg Büchner (“Woyzeck”). He was born in the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1813 and died in Zurich in 1837.
