Education: The government is open to a positive dialogue with all institutional interlocutors to reach a definitive agreement (Mr. Akhannouch)

Rabat – The government is open to a positive dialogue with all institutional interlocutors with a view to reaching, as soon as possible, a final agreement that would take into consideration the problems relating to the Status of Education Personnel, affirmed, Tuesday, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.

Responding to a central question in the House of Councillors as part of the monthly monitoring session on the theme: “Program for reducing territorial and social disparities”, Mr. Akhannouch called on all institutional partners to adhere to this open dialogue “with a view to reaching an objective compromise that takes into consideration the demands of the unions and that does not excessively weigh down the State budget”.

The Head of Government stressed that the increase approved by the government in teachers’ salaries is “exceptional” and absolutely the most important, despite “the limited financial resources of the State”, specifying that through this increase, which will cost the State budget 10 billion dirhams, the government has reached a very high ceiling which is the maximum of what it can present.

“The government’s concern is to correct the situation of women and men in the education sector and to realize their aspirations, while guaranteeing the right of students to education and to continue their studies regularly,” assured Mr. Akhannouch.

It should be recalled that the government and the most representative trade unions signed an agreement aimed at improving the income of men and women in education, during a meeting chaired by the Head of Government.

The agreement provides for a general increase in salaries for all women and men in education, all bodies and grades combined, by a net monthly amount set at 1,500 dirhams, which will be paid in two equal installments (January 1, 2024 – January 2025).
