Qatar Airways started the Zurich-Doha route 20 years ago with four weekly flights. At that time, Zurich was the 53rd destination that Qatar Airways added to its flight schedule.
The airline, recently named the best airline in the world by Skytrax, now flies to more than 170 destinations. There are 14 weekly connections between Zurich and Doha with an Airbus A350-900. Zurich is the airline’s second hub in Switzerland alongside Geneva.
Eric Odone, Vice President of Sales Europe at Qatar Airways, says: “We are delighted with the long-standing positive relationship with Zurich Airport. The continued success of this route is a testament to the popularity of our award-winning product and we look forward to sharing every success with our valued partner, Zurich Airport.”
Stefan Tschudin, Chief Operating Officer at Zurich Airport, said: “We are delighted to celebrate Qatar Airways’ 20th anniversary in Zurich. Access to global markets is crucial for Switzerland’s export-oriented economy and also for the tourism industry.” With the extensive route network that Qatar Airways offers through its hub in Doha, it plays an important role in connecting Zurich to the world, said Tschudin.
