Corporate customers of technology giant Microsoft are victims of a computer hack. Here’s what we know about this gigantic outing with global results this Friday.
What happened ?
Announcements of various services and infrastructure affected by computer failure on the Windows operating system are increasing on Friday morning. According to our information, this will follow a problem that occurred during an external software update carried out by the cybersecurity company Crowdstrike.
In a message titled “Service Disruption,” Microsoft said users “may not be able to access many Microsoft 365 apps and services.”
Microsoft added that it is “committed to managing this incident with the highest priority and urgency, while continuing to address the ongoing impact for the remaining Microsoft 365 applications that are in a compromised state.”
“It’s unknown, I have no words, it’s crazy,” a cybersecurity expert told Le Parisien. “The most credible theory at the time is that a Windows file necessary for the computer to work was isolated by mistake and caused the system to crash,” he adds.
The National Information Systems Security Agency (ANSSI), which investigated the origin of the failure, indicated to Le Parisien that “no element in the state” suggested that this failure was caused by a cyber attack.
Secretary of State for Digital Marina Ferrari tweeted that the exit was “supervised at the highest level” of the state.
Airplanes are on the ground
International air traffic is greatly affected. Major US airlines, including Delta, United and American Airlines, have grounded all flights due to “communication issues”. Disruptions are expected in Hong Kong.
In Europe, Amsterdam-Schiphol, Berlin and Zurich international airports and “all Spanish airports” are blocked. Delays in passenger availability are expected. Air service from Berlin was suspended until 11 a.m., before partially resuming. Check-in times and waiting times will be longer for passengers.
In the Netherlands, Eindhoven airport in the south of the country was affected as well as the Transavia airline and some Dutch hospitals.
Low-cost airline Ryanair in turn announced disruptions, as did Indian airlines Akasa Air and SpiceJet. Ryanair advises “all passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure time”. KLM has also suspended these “many” flights.
In France, Air France announced “disruption at certain terminals” but Paris airports appeared to be closed at 10 am. Existing flights are not affected, it has been added within the company without specifying which destinations are affected.

The world economy is slowing down

TV channels stop

The Olympic computer system crashed

Australia struck first
Australian businesses were the first to announce early that they were hit by a “large-scale technology outbreak”, the country’s cybersecurity authority, Australia’s ABC TV, said.
