Béni Mellal-Khénifra: 231 km of seguias developed since the launch of the Generation Green Strategy
Béni Mellal – Since the launch of the Generation Green Strategy in 2020, a total of 231 km of seguias have been developed in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, we learned from the Tadla Regional Office for Agricultural Development (ORMVAT).
The total length of the seguias developed in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region at the end of 2023 amounts to 1,480 km, including 700 km before the Green Morocco Plan (PMV), 550 km during the period of implementation of the PMV Plan (2008-2019) and 231 km since the start of the Green Generation Strategy (2020-2023), according to the same source.
The objective of the Generation Green Strategy by 2030 will be to develop a length of around 478 km, i.e. a development rate of the irrigation network of 70%.
In the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, the seguias contribute to the mobilization of the potential of surface water for the irrigation of the areas concerned and allow the achievement of real savings for irrigation water.
With a strong agricultural vocation, the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, which is full of significant water and agricultural potential, presents significant contributions on a national scale, in terms of plant and animal production.
