K-pop icon girl group ‘Blackpink’ will be reuniting for the first time in a year while pursuing solo activities under their own agencies.
According to their agency YG Entertainment on the 19th, BLACKPINK will hold a private offline fan signing event for their fandom BLINK on August 8th to celebrate their 8th debut anniversary.
The ‘OUR AREA WITH BLINK’ event to select invitees will be held until the 26th.
We will select 88 people who best expressed their love for the members through fan letters, drawings, photos or stories containing precious memories with BLACKPINK, etc. that contain their feelings to celebrate the 8th anniversary of their debut.
BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016 with the single “SQUARE ONE,” which featured the double title tracks “Whistle” and “BOOMBAYAH.” Last year, with their second full-length album “Bone Pink,” they simultaneously topped the Billboard 200 and the Official Albums Chart Top 100, becoming the world’s top girl group.
The only K-pop groups to have topped both charts at the same time are Blackpink and BTS. Also, BTS (27 songs) is the K-pop group with the most songs on Billboard’s main single chart, the Hot 100, followed by Blackpink with 9 songs.
The four members renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment, which discovered them late last year, to continue group activities.
However, they are doing their individual activities separately under different agencies. Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa have established independent labels OA Entertainment, Bliss, and Loud, respectively. Rosé is doing her individual activities through The Black Label, which was established by Teddy, who was a representative producer of YG.
