Anna Diamantopoulou announced today her candidacy for the presidency of PASOK – Movement for Change, for the elections of October 6, 2024. With a video posted on social media and a text announcing her candidacy, the former PASOK minister and commissioner refers EU for the challenges of modern social democracy and its vision for Greece that produces, for a stronger, safer, fairer Greece, a “proud Greece” and a “Great Governing PASOK”.
Anna Diamantopoulou says in her message:
“I believe in society.
I believe in politics, I believe in the power of man to define his destiny, in the power of each of us to dream and build a better life.
This is what my generation and some Greeks achieved with the PASOK of Change and progressive reforms in power.
This is what I also managed, from Kozani to find myself in Europe and around the world.
And from the mine where my father worked and my studies at the Polytechnic, in Parliament, in a series of positions of responsibility, in politics or in the private sector.
I could not have dreamed from the beginning of what I have achieved. But I know we were there and I had the right to dream.
As I know, today the younger generation, my son and his friends, Anna who is currently 15 years old in Kozani, do not have, and do not have, the same opportunities that I and my friends had.
Because of the road we Greeks lost our temper and then our self-control and together with hope. And now… now we are at a series of crossroads. And at these crossroads, I believe that together with PASOK, we can activate the inevitable forces of our faction, with a vision for our lives, with political positions with substance, faith, work and realism, show the way and walk together.
That is why I am standing as a candidate for PASOK President and I invite you to the polls on October 6. For every 15-year-old Anna, for the children who left the country with the crisis, for those who cannot dream, for those who are looking for more opportunities, for those who create and demand.
For all those affected and marginalized by the failure of New Democracy and Mr. Mitsotakis and for all of us who see inequalities growing and know we can do better.
To produce Greece.
A stronger, safer and fairer Greece! For proud Greece!
For solidarity we must build again among ourselves.
To reintroduce ourselves, to fulfill.
To agree again!
I am Anna Diamantopoulou and I am asking for your support.
For large PASOK and Government.
Your homeland that gives every Greek woman and every Greek man the right to look the future in the eyes and know that it is happening.
