This cinematographic meeting took place in the presence of the Beninese Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts, Jean-Michel Abimbola, ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic and consular missions accredited to Benin and members of the Moroccan community.
During the debate meeting that followed the screening of the film, Rachid El Ouali expressed his joy at meeting the Beninese public and the Moroccan community and at screening his third feature film in a brother African country. His film deals with the issue of immigration with questions about family ties, the duty of remembrance and forgiveness.
For his part, the ambassador of HM the King to Benin, Rachid Rguibi, indicated that the celebration of the Francophonie is part of Morocco’s commitment, as an active country of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), in favor of the promotion of the values of solidarity and dialogue as well as the promotion of the rule of law, democracy, human rights and the inclusion of women and children.
At the end of this cinematographic event, a cocktail dinner was offered by Mr. Rguibi in honor of the guests.
Rachid El Ouali’s third feature film, “Coup de Tamon” reveals the poignant story of the determination of Larbi Trach, a former Moroccan miner, who has been living in France for over four decades. His deep desire is to return to his motherland to be buried next to his wife Aziza, after receiving the devastating news of his terminal illness.
The film, according to its director, “stems from a series of reflections around personal questioning on life and death, the relationship with others, the duty of remembrance, and forgiveness and recognition.”
