Organized with the support of the Bayt Mal Al Qods Acharif Agency until the end of the month of Ramadan, this artistic exhibition has the participation of 21 Moroccan calligraphers, who were awarded by HM King Mohammed VI for the creation of artistic paintings of Moroccan calligraphy, lettering and decoration, with Al Qods Acharif as their theme.
The opening of the exhibition was marked by the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Department of Culture, Samira Lemlizi, and the Director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, as well as representatives of diplomatic delegations accredited to Rabat.
The exhibition consists of two pavilions. The first features paintings that will be auctioned at the end of the exhibition, with proceeds going to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, while the second pavilion is dedicated to the artistic tools used by calligraphers, including paper, ink and pens, in addition to manuscripts and other artistic objects.
Speaking on this occasion, Ms. Lemlizi indicated that this exhibition highlights the richness and diversity of Moroccan intangible cultural heritage, while transmitting constructive messages on Moroccan calligraphy to current and future generations, stressing the special attention that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has constantly paid to calligraphy, notably through the launch of the Mohammed VI Prize for the art of Moroccan calligraphy.
The exhibition “The songs of the alphabet from Aqsa to Aqsa” also highlights the fact that the Kingdom has renowned artists and calligraphers who work to promote the authenticity of Moroccan calligraphy, she added.
Ms. Lemlizi also indicated that the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication works to preserve and conserve Moroccan heritage, to promote it nationally and internationally, as well as to highlight the richness and importance of the art of Moroccan calligraphy, as a national cultural heritage.
For his part, Mr. Salem Cherkaoui noted that this exhibition brings together the best calligraphers in Morocco, to express in their own way the bond uniting the Moroccan people to Al Qods Acharif, stressing that it also embodies the involvement of the Moroccan elite in promoting the values of the Kingdom, based on the culture of tolerance, peace and coexistence.
He also expressed his sincere thanks to all the artists and calligraphers participating in this artistic exhibition, as well as his great consideration to the Rabat Forum for the Revitalization of Cultural and Artistic Heritage for this valuable initiative.
