The Standing Committee on Food Ministry has recommended that awareness campaigns be launched to prevent food wastage.
This recommendation was made in the fourth meeting of the Standing Committee on Food Ministry of the 12th National Parliament.
It was held at Sangsad Bhavan under the chairmanship of Committee President Shajahan Khan on Thursday.
Committee member Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Md. Mokbul Hossain, Abul Kalam. Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury, S. A. K Ekramuzzaman and Draupadi Devi Agarwala were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority was requested for quality food management by identifying the existing food management, identifying the existing problems, determining the best way to eliminate the problem on a priority basis and making the necessary recommendations to solve it.
In the interest of security of the country’s food warehouses, if the security guards appointed through outsourcing are employed in the food department, the committee recommended in favor of direct recruitment due to the fear of loss of government resources due to collusion with local miscreants and theft of government assets.
